The Lorn standard

Why we put one active ingredient in the bottle.

A long ingredient list looks like more. Usually it's less: smaller doses of each, amounts hidden inside a blend, a label built to impress instead of inform. Lorn does the opposite. One active ingredient, at a dose you can read and verify. Here's the reasoning.

More ingredients, less of each one

A capsule holds a fixed amount, and that's all it holds. Every ingredient you add takes room the others needed. Put one active in a capsule and there's space for a full dose. Put ten in, and each one shrinks to a sliver, often a fraction of the amount any study ever used. The label looks generous. The capsule is spread too thin to do much of anything. A long ingredient list isn't more value. It's the same capsule, divided until nothing in it is a real dose.

A blend is a place to hide

A proprietary blend prints one number for the whole mixture, say 480mg, and stops there. The individual amounts aren't listed. Legally, they don't have to be. So you're told a blend of eight things weighs 480mg, but not whether that's mostly cheap filler and a dusting of the ingredient you actually came for. There's no way to tell from the label, and that's the point. The blend isn't a recipe. It's a curtain. If a formula is worth taking, its amounts survive being shown. The ones that hide are usually hiding something.

One active, at a dose you can check

Lorn does the opposite, on purpose. One active ingredient per formula, at a dose you can read off the label and match against the research yourself. 275mg of magnesium, from magnesium glycinate. 200mg of 5-HTP, from Griffonia seed. No blend, no rounding, no second and third ingredient quietly taking up room. What's on the label is what's in the capsule. It's a smaller promise than a ten-ingredient label makes. It's also one we can keep, and one you can verify. That trade is the whole brand.

The difference is on the label

A typical calm blend

  • Magnesium oxide
  • L-theanine
  • Ashwagandha
  • Chamomile

Individual amounts not disclosed.

A Lorn label

Magnesium (as magnesium glycinate)
275 mg65% DV

Every amount, on the label.

One active ingredient. A real dose. Printed where you can see it. That's not a marketing angle. It's just the honest version of a supplement.
